recess is an over 2000 square foot hand and nail spa designed with a true eco-chic vibe in Los Angeles, California.

recess is more than just a storefront, it’s a lifestyle of social consciousness that promotes eco-luxury, a healthy atmosphere and environmental awareness. recess is a new concept for the nail spa industry that strives to raise the standards for the entire community.

We pride ourselves on the measures taken to reduce our environmental impact in the world by constructing a space according to the guidelines of LEED (Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design) provided by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). This nationally recognized benchmark established just for tenants provides builders and business owners with the information and resources they need to create healthy commercial interiors.

The first priority at recess is providing a healthy environment for our clientele. With this tenet in mind, we are employing the use of finest medical grade sanitation equipment for the utensils used by our technicians, as well as every client receives a new set of files, buffers and toe separators to ensure the top in sanitary services. The towels we use are made of a bamboo/cotton blend and are naturally anti-microbial. As a final touch, we use pedicure basin liners for every foot treatment. All of the products used are either organic, biodegradable, good for sensitive skin and all around healthy ingredients.

At recess the quality of our products and services will not go unnoticed. We are introducing the concept of customized manicures and pedicures. Just like an esthetician analyzes your skin for a facial, our technicians will analyze your hands and feet and give you their professional opinion and recommend the appropriate treatments for your skin type and overall nail condition. These treatments can be found at the organic product bar in the center of the spa.

In this plush, healthy space, we didn’t forget the name of the game— recess! We are all about pampering ourselves in luxury and having fun.
